Tig Welder – 1st Shift

Summary (1ST SHIFT)

Receives production parts and assembles by Tig/Mig Welding per prints. Requires knowledge of blueprint reading, welding techniques and welding equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Receive parts and work orders from various departments for welding operations.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, use precision measuring instruments and must know weld symbols.
  • Locate all component parts to assemble and complete work order.
  • Ability to grind, fit parts, work with foot control, and use filler rod to build part to print.
  • Ability to work with all metals, i.e., Aluminum, Titanium, Stainless Steel, Cold Rolled.
  • Knowledge and ability to change out Gas tanks for welding.
  • Must be able to control your heat while welding with most sheet metals
  • Stack finished part on skids and/or in boxes to ready for next operation.
  • Move to next area of production.
  • Perform maintenance at workstation from time to time.
  • Ensures shop cleanliness in work area.

  • Ability to operate Computer.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and job packets.
  • Ability to operate measuring tools such as Calipers, Measuring Tape, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MSDS Sheets, blueprints, maintenance instructions, and job procedures.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate Forklift.

Education and/or other Requirements

Experience in Tig Welding is preferred.

Environmental Factors

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and hazardous chemicals.
  • Ability to perform duties in extreme heat.
  • Sometimes works near moving mechanical equipment.
  • Employee works in confined spaces.

  • While performing the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and arms to operate equipment; push, pull and lift objects; talk and hear.
  • Perform motions including bending, twisting, pushing, pulling.
  • The employee will regularly be required to lift, push or pull weight and/or carry objects weighing 5 lbs and up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time without a significant rest period.
